Dontfckabout is a music blog dedicated to bringing you the best and freshest in the urban genres from all over the world. They’re huge Hip Hop fans themselves who got tired of certain sites posting a whole lot of B.S about who Nicki’s dating now, where Kanye and Kim were last spotted (you get the idea), which they believe often forsakes the gem of it all – the music. That’s why they’re dedicated to finding the freshest tracks and artists, some who have been overlooked and do not get the representation they deserve, and Dontfckabout provide them a platform to showcase their work. Oh, and they don’t fxck about!
ROOTS MANUVA - "FACETY 2:1" (PROD. FOUR TET) It’s been four years since Stockwell’s Roots Manuva has had any major release. In the days before East London started emanating that infectious sound of Grime that now seems to have largely taken over the UK’s urban music culture, Roots’ rough and ragga-influenced South London rhymes were some of the hardest coming from the UK Rap community. Our favourites have always been 1999’s Brand New Second Hand and 2001 release Run Come Save Me, with philosophical and dark number “Movements” still being a number we bang on for inspiration. Roots has been off the map for a while, only sporadically popping up every now and then, but we are pleased that this week he released new track “Facety 2:11″ via long-time label Big Dada Sound. The track is a strong comeback with characteristically complex and dark lyricism from Roots and a scratchy retro-feeling production from UK’s Four Tet. Look at Four Tet’s tweet below for a practically perfect representation of what the instrumental sounds like (might ruin the song for you though coz it’s all you’ll be able to hear now lol). boatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatraceboatrace — Four Tet (@FourTet) March 30, 2015 When FADER asked Roots about the track he said “The saga goes from tangent to tangent here in the primal decibel of infinite tribal dub-wise mutation show me your skank face, let’s get feisty.” Not sure what that means but big up Roots all day long! We don’t have any specific details yet, but we’ve heard personally from sources close to him that he’s got a new album in the works so keep your eyes and ears open.
