KASRA VASEGHI
DJ, Host of The Paradise Show (NTS Radio), curator of 'Balearic' section on 22 Tracks @kasrav Hey Kasra, tell me, what’s in your head?
Hi, now? Well, whatever, just in general Thinking about the future mostly...wait, what, just in general… I don’t know, record again!... Can’t think of a certain thing now that you ask what’s in my head, there’s lots of stuff in my head. (smiling) What’s your life moto? My life moto…everything SADE sings about? Erm, okay, just…everything? Yeah…most of the stuff… Meat or ice-cream? Ice-cream. I don’t eat meat. Oh, are you a vegetarian then? Since when don’t you eat meat and why? No, I’m not a vegetarian, I eat fish… I stopped a year ago,‘cause you know I figured I was doing quite a lot of harm to my body in different ways, so I thought at least don’t do this. So you’ve chosen not to eat meat rather than not to take drugs? (Evil look) (surprised) I don’t use drugs!.. You can’t say that in an interview?? How do you describe your creative process? Oh, it’s always after 12a.m. I always get creative when everyone else sleeps. Is there any particular achievement that you’re most proud of? Yeah, first time we did a collaborative party with my friends, it was called Dislocated Disco….And we had I guess like 300-400 people capacity in the place we rented out and we never thought that it would actually sell out, but there was a massive queue outside, lots of people came down… and it was just great! What’s your alter ego? Erm...I don’t know, but if I had a super power I’d be Inspector Gadget I think. (Smiles) Why? Cause he could do everything basically and he would kinda solve most problems without getting that violent so… So you’re an anti-violence guy huh? (Very seriously) Yeah, I don’t like violence. What’s your biggest ambition? My biggest ambition…For now…is…probably to just have my own music agency, to scout talent. What are your other interests? I do a lot of drawing actually, I quite enjoy working in PR…I don’t really like the fashion world, but I love clothing and style and the fact that you’re able to express yourself through what you wear! Ha, if you could produce only one clothing item in your own line, what would it be? T-shirts with prints of some really old movie scenes and old album covers. What’s you favourite alcoholic drink? Vodka-soda. Without any lime? No, with lime. It’s quite simple it doesn’t have much taste and it’s probably as close as you can get to water while consuming alcohol. (Smiles) Do you have a role model or something like that? who inspires you? It’s quite difficult… I can say mostly my father and my mum…kinda…actually. How do they inspire you? Because they are like me but we live in different worlds. We come from the same background so we kind of think in similar ways but… we think the same way in a different world if it makes sense? (Laughs) It’s quite twisted. If you were to build your own city, what would it be like? I’d make it look a bit nicer than London but I would just have the same people that I know. How do you mean? Well, for me it’s more important who lives in that city rather than what it looks like. What project would it be that you’d love to collaborate on with someone? I would love to make music for games and movies. Who would you collaborate on that with? Does it have to be someone who would actually like to do it? Erm…I mean just think of a crew. Artists? Producers? Oh, Scorsese I’d say, but I would have to prove myself a lot to him by that point (laughs). I love his stuff a lot. Okay, now the final question. Picture yourself in ten years for me. How do you see your success. It’s a secret. (Cheeky look) |
