VJ VON ART http://vjvonart.tumblr.com/ Tell us about your work and practice as an artist.
I am a nonconformist; I don’t like labels and like some art gipsy I travel from one medium to another, experimenting and never settling to do just that one thing that would give me an artistic title. Art is my life and just as I don’t live my life by the book or stick to one fashion style or fit in any social category I don’t want to pick just one art branch. I am a Photographer – Painter – Sculptor –Fashion Designer –Poet- Illustrator… My work is a reflection of the current state of humanity our social and political issues, our selfishness, our potential to greatness, our passion and deep rooted fear of change and the unknown. What inspires you? Light, deep-rooted Darkness, Beauty, Pain, Freedom, Torture, Love, Anguish, Ecstasy, Longings, Moods, Childhood Monsters, Myths and Nature. Having the ability to watch all these twisted worlds interact and run parallel to the beauty of the Nature has been the greatest gift given to me as an artist. What are you main plans a goals currently with regard to your practice? My main plan is to expand my exhibitions to Europe as well as incorporate my passion for Interior design and get more involved with designing things for other brands. I currently design t-shirts for T10 fashion label and art prints for Furniture Valley as well as opened my own online shop Boomhaus where I will soon release my fashion collection along my art prints. From fine art perspective I want to continue to grow as a sculptor and expand my retro poster inspired illustrations collection. What has been your most fulfilling or exciting experience of being an artist to date? Meeting amazing people that I have photographed, travelling the world and inspiring other people to be more creative. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing some one say: ‘oh I am not creative at all’ and then watch them make something amazing that changes their perception of themselves forever. What kind of people do you enjoy spending time with the most? I like being on my own, I have the best of conversations with myself. I like inspirational people who are driven by the passion for the things that they love and it doesn’t have to be art, in fact anything but art. I collect people like I collect art inspirations: they have to be from all walks of life, social groups, countries, filled with compassion for people (everyone loves animals, that’s the easy bit), passionate and funny. I like to have fun along the way. Where will we meet in 5 years time? Spain! We will meet in a small gallery at my solo show and I will have a monkey pet. I feel that I need to have more sun in my life and slow down; I have been running in London for over 16years now and that is a one hell of a marathon!!! I want to truly experience another culture and then merge my life experiences into something amazing. |
